There was an upset in Malaga where 3rd placed Multiopticas Baza (5-4) was defeated by tenth ranked Novaschool (2-7) 67-62 on Saturday. Novaschool outrebounded Multiopticas Baza 42-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Alex Jackson (200-84, college: Mo.-St.Louis) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Center Anastasio Vazquez (204-92) chipped in 9 points and 15 rebounds. Jackson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard David Garcia (180-93) produced 17 points and 4 assists and center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Novaschool moved-up to ninth place in Group D-A, which they share with Unicaja-Andalucia. Loser Multiopticas Baza keeps the third position with four games lost. Novaschool will face higher ranked Cazorla (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Multiopticas Baza will play against Andujar and hope to win that game.
