Regular Season Round 11: Jairis - Gandia 71-74

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Gandia and second-ranked Jairis had identical 5-2 record. But Jairis was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Gandia 74-71 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group E-B. Jairis was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) who scored 21 points. Point guard Joaquin Rodenas (186-90) chipped in 17 points. Forward Jorge Lledo (203-80) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard David Villodre (180-96) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gandia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of Group E-B leader. Newly promoted Jairis keeps the second place with three games lost. Gandia will face Benidorm (#4) on the road in the next round.
