Regular Season Round 11: Pelplin - Gniezno 73-47

No shocking result in a game in Pelpin where second ranked Pelplin (9-3) smashed 8th ranked Gniezno (4-7) 73-47 on Saturday. They outrebounded Gniezno 47-23 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pelplin looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Gniezno's players. The best player for the winners was center Mateusz Itrich (201-97) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Damian Ciesielski (187-97) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Pelplin players scored in double figures. Guard Emil Rau (189-97) produced 20 points and Michal Szydlowski (197-87) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Pelplin went down to third position (Group A) due to points difference. Loser Gniezno keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Pelplin will face Miedzychod (#4) on the road in the next round. Gniezno will play against the league's leader Politechnika Gd. (#1) and hope to win that game.
