Regular Season Round 9: Olimpico 64 - UCAM Jairis 62-70

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Olimpico 64's (0-9) home loss to thirteenth ranked UCAM Jairis (2-7) 62-70 on Saturday. UCAM Jairis dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpico 64's 20. Ana Faussurier (190-94, college: Arkansas) stepped up and scored 18 points and 4 steals for the winners and forward Julia Melina (179-90) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Beatriz Parada (178-86) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Carmen Arteche (177-91) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Olimpico 64 players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. UCAM Jairis moved-up to twelfth place in Group B, which they share with Genero. Olimpico 64 lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. UCAM Jairis will face higher ranked Granada (#11) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olimpico 64 will play against the league's leader Campus Promete where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
