There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Baskonia (3-7) won against at home 4th placed Cocinas.com (6-4) 80-76 on Saturday. Baskonia forced 20 Cocinas.com turnovers. The best player for the winners was Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-94, college: Texas A&M) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Inigo Royo (-0) chipped in 12 points. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Canadian forward Erik Nissen (206-95, college: Acadia) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and center Arnau Parrado (200-0) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Baskonia maintains tenth place in Silver with 3-7 record. Loser Cocinas.com keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Baskonia will face higher ranked Plasencia (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cocinas.com will play against Marin (#7) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LEB Gold just one year after relegation.
