Regular Season Round 9: Slovan - Samorin 45-76

The game in Bratislava supposed to be also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Samorin (6-5) played at the court of 7th ranked Slovan (1-9). Samorin smashed Slovan 76-45 on Saturday. Samorin dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Slovan's 24. They outrebounded Slovan 27-12 including 19 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Samorin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. The former international power forward Romana Vynuchalova (192-86, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Martina Letkova (189-92) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Samorin players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Nikola Turzakova (175-94) with 13 points and Radoslava Ostadalova (182-99) scored 12 points. Slovan's coach already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Samorin. They moved-up to fourth place. Slovan lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. They share it with Banska Bystrica. Samorin will meet at home Banska Bystrica (#7) in the next round. Slovan will play against the league's second-placed Young Angels in Kosice and hope to win that game.
