Regular Season Round 10: Marghera - Varese 78-45

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Varese (1-9) was outscored by seventh ranked Marghera (5-4) in Venezia 78-45 on Saturday. Marghera made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Marghera outrebounded Varese 49-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Sara Toffolo (184-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Silvia Pastrello (181-1) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her eleven free throws !!!) for the winners. Four Marghera players scored in double figures. Arianna Beretta (178-96, agency: SPORTlab Agency) replied with 9 points and 7 rebounds and guard Francesca Misto (175-95) added 6 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Varese. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marghera moved-up to sixth place in A2. Newly promoted Varese dropped to the sixteenth position with nine games lost. Marghera will face Bolzano BK (#7) on the road in the next round. Varese will play against the league's leader Costa Masnaga (#1) and hope to win that game.
