Regular Season Round 8: Pozega - Mursa 79-76

Plamen Pozega's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after seven consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Mursa (1-7) 79-76. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Mursa won second period 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Plamen Pozega made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Mursa turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Mariah-Cauhryn Smelser (188-93, college: Jackson St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Jelena Ivezic (182-84) who added 26 points and 11 assists during the contest. Point guard Petra Lovric (166-96) responded with 30 points and 6 rebounds and Petra Simunic (-93) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Plamen Pozega left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Mursa. It was Mursa's fourth loss in a row. Plamen Pozega will play against league's second-placed ZKK Medvescak in Zagreb in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mursa will play at home against Sibenik (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
