Regular Season Round 11: Araberri - Castello 80-78

A very close game took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz between Araberri and Castello. Thirteenth ranked Araberri (5-6) got a very close home victory over 14th ranked Castello (3-8). Araberri managed to escape with a 2-point win 80-78 on Sunday evening. Araberri outrebounded Castello 46-28 including 19 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Junior Robinson (165-96, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import swingman Niksha Federico (201-95, college: Hawaii Pacific, agency: Two Points) accounted for 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Point guard Joan Faner (176-90) came up with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian Brano Djukanovic (194-95) added 15 points respectively for Castello in the defeat. Four Castello players scored in double figures. Araberri moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ourense and Real Canoe. Castello lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Caceres and FC Barcelona II. Araberri will meet Caceres Basket (#16) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Castello will play against Lleida Basquet and will have a slim chance for a victory.
