Regular Season Round 9: Granada - De La Torre 59-66

The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked De La Torre's (3-5) road victory over 11th ranked Granada (3-6) 66-59 on Sunday. De La Torre made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. American swingman Jasmine Lumpkin (183-96, college: Texas A&M) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Sara Sanchez (173-93) chipped in 14 points. The best for the losing side was guard Patricia Fernandez (173-92) with 13 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Beatriz Cala (184-92) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for De La Torre. Newly promoted De La Torre maintains tenth place in Group B with 3-5 record. Granada lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with six games lost. De La Torre will face higher ranked Almeria (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Granada will play against UCAM Jairis (#13) in Alcantarilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
