Regular Season Round 11: Martos - Unicaja-Andalucia 89-81

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Martos (2-6) defeated at home bottom-ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (2-7) 89-81 on Sunday. Martos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Unicaja-Andalucia's 32. Martos forced 34 Unicaja-Andalucia turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar (-96) who scored 21 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. Senegalese center Mbagne Diop (209-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Dutch center Morgan Stilma (202-0) produced 15 points and guard Lucas Munoz (182-1) added 10 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Five Unicaja-Andalucia players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Martos moved-up to eighth place in Group D-A. Loser Unicaja-Andalucia dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. Martos will face league's second-placed CAM E.Soler in Melilla in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unicaja-Andalucia will play at home against Coin (#5) and hope to win that game.
