The most surprising game was the first loss of Lattes Montpellier (5-1) on the court of fifth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Villeneuve D'Ascq 98-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lattes Montpellier. Villeneuve D'Ascq dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lattes Montpellier's 30. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 19 Lattes Montpellier turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Magali Mendy (178-90, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds. American-Slovenian power forward Shante Evans (186-91, college: Hofstra) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Australian swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) answered with 17 points and Ornella Bankole (181-97) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lattes Montpellier. Villeneuve D'Ascq maintains fifth place with 3-3 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Lattes Montpellier at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Bourges and Lyon. Villeneuve D'Ascq is looking forward to face Tarbes (#8) on the road in the next round.
