Regular Season Round 7: Al-Ahli - Nuwaidrat 93-64

Date: December 3, 2018
There was no surprise in Manama where 11th ranked Al-Nweidrat (1-5) was crushed by fourth ranked Al-Ahli (4-1) 93-64. Al-Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Nweidrat's 24. They outrebounded Al-Nweidrat 46-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. Al-Ahli players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 20 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Hesham Sarhan (-92) accounted for 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Salvadorean-American center Ronnie Aguilar (216-87, college: CS Dominguez H.) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists and Hassan Abbas added 17 points respectively for Al-Nweidrat in the defeat. Al-Nweidrat's coach Hamdo Frljak gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Al-Ahli. They maintain fourth place with 4-1 record. Al-Nweidrat lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with five games lost. Al-Ahli's next round opponent will be Isa Town (#10) in Issa Town which should be theoretically another easy game. Al-Nweidrat will play at home against Al-Ittihad and hope to win that game.
