Regular Season Round 8: Snaefell - Vestri 72-91
Date: December 3, 2018
Bottom-ranked Snaefell is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Vestri (6-2) 91-72. The game without a history. Vestri led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American-German forward Andre Hughes (203-94, college: E.New Mexico) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) who added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Vestri players scored in double figures. Guard Runar Ragnarsson (192-93) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American forward Darrell Flake (193-80, college: McKendree) scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vestri have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Snaefell at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Vestri will play against Fjolnir (#4) in Reykjavik in the next round. Snaefell will play on the road against Hottur (#3) in Egilsstadir and hopes to get finally their first victory.
