Not a big story in a game in Nanchang where 10th ranked Henan Phoenix (8-8) was defeated by second ranked Bayi Kylin (15-1) 86-70 on Monday. Bayi Kylin dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Henan Phoenix's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International Meng Li (185-95) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and center Zhenqi Pan (190-95) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. Bayi Kylin's coach Shuping Zhan allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Yuxi Wei responded with 15 points and 6 assists and forward Jie Sun (187-91) scored 17 points. Four Henan Phoenix players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Bayi Kylin. They maintain second place with 15-1 record behind leader Guangdong. Newly promoted Henan Phoenix dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Bayi Kylin will face Golden Bulls (#12) in Yiwu in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Henan Phoenix will play at home against Fujian Nanan and hope to win that game.
