Very expected game in Daqing where 15th ranked Red Wolves (4-12) were defeated by eleventh ranked Dragons (7-9) 71-67 on Monday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Dragons outrebounded Red Wolves 49-35 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jiayu Liu stepped up and scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Liqing Cao (195-92) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Taiwanese Hsi-Yeh Liu (180-98) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Theresa Plaisance (196-92, college: LSU, agency: ProDep Management) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Dragons maintains eleventh place with 7-9 record. Loser Red Wolves dropped to the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Dragons will face higher ranked Magic Deer (#4) in Urumqi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Red Wolves will play on the road against Liaoning Hengye (#15) in Anshan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
