Regular Season Round 17: Shandong - Shanghai 75-72

The most exciting game of round 17 in the WCBA took place in Penglai. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Swordfish (9-7) to sixth ranked Sports Lottery (10-6) 75-72 in the game for the seventh place. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Swordfish. Sports Lottery forced 23 Swordfish turnovers. American guard DeWanna Bonner (193-87, college: Auburn, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up and scored 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and international point guard Yuan Li (170-0) chipped in 9 points and 5 assists. Sports Lottery's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Montenegrin center Jelena Dubljevic (191-87, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Zhiting Zhang (196) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Despite that victory Sports Lottery went down to seventh position due to points difference. Swordfish at the other side keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Sports Lottery are looking forward to face higher ranked Beijing Great Wall (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Swordfish will play against Jiangsu Phoenix and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
