Regular Season Round 10: ToPo - Honka 78-62

Bottom-ranked Torpan Pojat managed to get the second consecutive victory on Tuesday night. This time newly promoted Torpan Pojat won against sixth-ranked Tapiolan Honka in Helsinki 78-62. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that Torpan Pojat is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Torpan Pojat outrebounded Tapiolan Honka 47-33 including 38 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Ladondra Johnson (178, college: Young Harris) had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Ashli Payne (183-95, college: E.Washington, agency: Gamble Sports Management) chipped in 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Sidney Cook (188-94, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Alexyz Vaioletama (185-93, college: USC) scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Newly promoted Torpan Pojat maintains tenth position with 3-10 record. Tapiolan Honka at the other side dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Torpan Pojat are looking forward to face higher ranked Catz Lappeenranta (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tapiolan Honka will play against Helmi Basket in Helsinki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
