Regular Season Round 7: Muharraq - Al-Riffa 76-72

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al-Muharraq as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al-Muharraq defeated 3rd placed Al-Riffa in Al Muharraq 76-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al-Riffa. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The former international forward Kadhem Majed (182-84) fired 26 points for the winners. American forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. American power forward Joseph Jones (206-86, college: Texas A&M) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 20 rebounds and the former international guard Mohamed Kawaid (-89) added 22 points respectively for lost side. Al-Muharraq (6-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Al-Riffa at the other side dropped to the second place with 0 game lost. They share the position with Al-Manama. Al-Riffa will play next round against Al-Bahrain trying to get back on the winning streak. Al-Muharraq will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Sitra at home.
