Regular Season Round 7: Samaheej - Al-Ittihad 52-97

Bottom-ranked Samaheej (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-52 loss to sixth ranked Al-Ittihad (2-3) in Manama. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Samaheej's 28. They outrebounded Samaheej 47-33 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al-Ittihad players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Samaheej's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Sayed-Mohd Hameed contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Al-Ittihad players scored in double figures. Mujtaba Ismaeel answered with 8 points and 12 rebounds and Basel Adel added 12 points in the effort for Samaheej. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Al-Ittihad went down to seventh position due to points difference. Samaheej lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Al-Ittihad will play against Al-Nweidrat (#11) in Nuwaidrat in the next round. Samaheej will have a break next round.
