Regular Season Round 17: Zhejiang Ch. - Guangsha L. 99-104

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Hangzhou: Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#8) and Golden Bulls (#5). Golden Bulls were defeated at home 99-104 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Golden Bulls. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Golden Bulls' 42. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Golden Bulls helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International center Jinqiu Hu (208-97) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and American point guard Courtney Fortson (180-88, college: Arkansas) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds, 13 assists and 6 steals. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions' coach ChunJiang Li used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Xuhang Zhu (207-93) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (13-2) moved-up to second place. Golden Bulls at the other side dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Guangzhou LL. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions are looking forward to face Sharks (#5) in Shanghai in the next round. Golden Bulls will play at home against the league's leader Guandong Tigers (#1) and are hoping to win this game.
