Very expected game in Tianjin where 20th ranked Gold Lions (2-14) were defeated by tenth ranked Sturgeons (9-7) 114-109. Sturgeons players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 33 personal fouls committed by Gold Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International Zhelin Wang (214-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds. American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) contributed with 22 points and 9 assists for the winners. Sturgeons' coach ShiLong Zhu allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American center Cole Aldrich (211-88, college: Kansas) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 22 rebounds and American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) added 30 points and 12 assists in the effort for Gold Lions. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sturgeons moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Shandong GS. Gold Lions lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Sturgeons' next round opponent will be higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#7) in Urumqi and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gold Lions will play at home against Golden Stars (#9) and hope to win that game.
