Regular Season Round 9: Hottur - Snaefell 84-67

Bottom-ranked Snaefell (0-9) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to third ranked Hottur (6-2) 84-67 on Thursday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Hottur. Snaefell managed to win second period 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hottur dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Snaefell's 32. Hottur forced 21 Snaefell turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Charles Clark (188-96, college: Carson-Newman) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Spanish forward David Guardia (200-90, agency: Players Group) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Hottur's coach Vidar Hafsteinsson used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian point guard Dominykas Zupkauskas (183-96) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized American forward Darrell Flake (193-80, college: McKendree) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Hottur moved-up to second place. Loser Snaefell still closes the standings with nine games lost. Hottur will meet Hamar (#5) on the road in the next round. Snaefell will play against Fjolnir and hopes to get finally their first victory.
