Regular Season Round 9: FSU - Thor AK 93-113

D1 top team - Thor AK (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked FSU (3-6) in Selfoss 113-93. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of FSU. Thor AK dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to FSU's 40. They outrebounded FSU 30-19 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Thor AK shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Larry Thomas (185-93, college: Birm.Southern) nailed 30 points and 9 assists for the winning side and guard Ingvi Ingvarsson (187-94) accounted for 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman Snjolfur Stefansson (192-98) came up with 24 points and guard Bjorn Asgeirsson (184-0) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for FSU in the defeat. Five Thor AK and four FSU players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thor AK have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. FSU at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Thor AK will play against Sindri (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. FSU will play against Vestri and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
