Regular Season Round 11: Keflavik - Haukar 97-88

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Keflavik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Keflavik defeated 7th ranked Haukar at home 97-88. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 34-25. But Haukar won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Brittanny Dinkins (170-94, college: S.Mississippi) who led her team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals. The former international forward Bryndis Gudmundsdottir (178-88) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Keflavik's coach Jon Gudmundsson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Eva Kristjansdottir (180-97) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Keflavik (9-3) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with KR and Snaefell. Haukar lost sixth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Haukar will play next round against strong Stjarnan trying to get back on the winning streak. Keflavik will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Valur in Reykjavik.
