Very important is a road loss of second ranked Leganes (7-3) against twelfth ranked Genero (3-7) on Friday night. Visiting Leganes was defeated by Genero in a tough game in Las Palmas 52-57. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Leganes. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 57-52. Genero dominated on the defensive end, holding Leganes to just 7 points in second quarter. American guard Danielle Lawrence (175-96, college: IUPUI) scored 20 points to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Kate Letkewicz (183-96, college: Dartmouth) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Genero moved-up to eleventh place in Group B, which they share with De La Torre. Loser Leganes dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Almeria. Genero will meet higher ranked Picken Claret (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leganes will play against Real Canoe (#6) and hope to secure a win.
