Regular Season Round 8: Nantes - Aix-Maurienne 76-77

A very interesting game took place in Nantes. It ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Nantes (5-3) to ninth ranked Aix-Maurienne (5-3) 77-76 in the fight for the third place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Nantes. Strangely Nantes outrebounded Aix-Maurienne 38-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. American guard DJ Richardson (190-91, college: Illinois, agency: Inception Sports) saved the victory by scoring 22 points and 7 rebounds. Canadian-Jamaican point guard Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson (178-91, college: Calgary) contributed with 20 points and 7 assists for the winners. American-British center Laurence Ekperigin (200-88, college: LeMoyne) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St.) added 11 points in the effort for Nantes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nantes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aix-Maurienne moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Nantes. Aix-Maurienne's next round opponent will be Gries/Oberhoffen (#9) in Bischwiller where they are favorite. Nantes will play at home against JA Vichy (#8) and hope to win that game.
