Regular Season Round 9: Fjolnir - Vestri 98-93

The game between Top Four teams took place in Reykjavik. Third ranked host Fjolnir (6-3) defeated 4th placed Vestri (6-3) 98-93. Vestri was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Vestri 38-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Fjolnir looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Anton Grady (203-92, college: Wichita St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Hungarian-Serbian Srdjan Stojanovic (197-91) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Five Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Fjolnir's coach Falur Hardarson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American-German forward Andre Hughes (203-94, college: E.New Mexico) with 43 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) scored 24 points and 8 assists. Fjolnir maintains third place with 6-3 record having just two points less than leader Thor AK, which they share with Hamar and Vestri. Fjolnir is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Snaefell (#8) in Stykkisholmur in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vestri will play at home against FSU (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
