A very close game took place in Fos-sur-Mer between Provence Basket and Monaco. Sixteenth ranked Provence Basket (4-8) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked Monaco (5-7). Provence Basket managed to escape with a 3-point win 80-77 on Friday evening. The winners were led by American swingman Malik Hairston (198-87, college: Oregon) who scored that evening 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by international guard Paul Lacombe (190-90, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Monaco. Hungarian-American power forward Jarrod Jones (207-90, college: Ball St.) added 10 points and 12 rebounds. Four Provence Basket and five Monaco players scored in double figures. Provence Basket moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Le Portel. Monaco lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Limoges. Provence Basket will meet higher ranked Limoges CSP Elite (#14) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Monaco will play against JDA Dijon where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
