Regular Season Round 11: HNMKY - FoKoPo 96-83

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Forssan Koripojat (2-9) lost to sixth ranked HNMKY (6-5) in Helsinki 83-96 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when HNMKY's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-18 extending their advantage to 13 points. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Point guard Erik Waxlax (175-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 assists. Guard Tuure Takala (185-93) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four HNMKY players scored in double figures. HNMKY's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Isaac Williams (195-94, college: Miss.Valley St.) answered with 28 points and the other American import center Gilbert Talbot (208-94, college: LSU-Alexandria) added 15 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Forssan Koripojat. HNMKY maintains sixth place in Division with 6-5 record. Loser Forssan Koripojat dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. HNMKY will face league's leader Lahti on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Forssan Koripojat will play against ToPo Juniorit (#4) and hope to win that game.
