Top ranked Belfast Star (7-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by eleventh ranked Maree (3-6) 80-74. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Belfast Star. They outrebounded Belfast Star 43-29 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Sean Sellers (198-95, college: Ball St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. International forward Paul Freeman (201-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Mike Davis (193-96, college: Queens, NC, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 26 points and Slovenian forward Mark Berlic (199-94) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Belfast Star's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Maree moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Killorglin. Belfast Star at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Maree is looking forward to face Killorglin (#10) in the next round. Belfast Star will play against UCC Demons (#8) in Cork and is hoping to win this game.
