Regular Season Round 6: Piestanske C. - Dynamo M. 67-60

Very expected game in Piestany where 13th ranked Russian Dynamo Moscow (1-4) was defeated by seventh ranked Slovakian Piestanske C. (3-2) 67-60. It looked good early as Dynamo Moscow took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Piestanske C. had a 27-16 second period charge getting the lead and Dynamo Moscow was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-67. Piestanske C. dominated on the defensive end, holding Dynamo Moscow to just 5 points in third quarter. It was a good game for American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) who led her team to a victory with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Ivana Jakubcova (198-94, college: USC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Polina Fedorova (189-95) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Maria Savina (188-88, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 18 points in the effort for Dynamo Moscow. Dynamo Moscow's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Piestanske C. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 3-2 record, which they share with Young Angels. Dynamo Moscow lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with four games lost. Piestanske C.'s next round opponent will be CTO (#15) in Amsterdam and are hoping to win another game. Dynamo Moscow will play at home against the league's leader Zabiny Brno where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
