Regular Season Round 20: Aomori Watts - Gunma 57-75

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Aomori Watts (6-15) lost at home to third ranked Gunma (13-8) 75-57 on Saturday. Gunma outrebounded Aomori Watts 42-27 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Masaya Komaki (186-93) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Gunma's coach Fujitaka Hiraoka used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Point guard Toshio Kan (184-94) replied with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Cullen Russo (206-94, college: Fresno St.) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Aomori Watts. Gunma have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-8 record having just three points less than leader Cyberdyne IR. Aomori Watts lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with 15 games lost. Gunma will have a break next round. Aomori Watts will play again at home against Gunma (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
