Regular Season Round 8: Aris - AEK 77-81

Date: December 8, 2018
Very predictable result when fourth ranked AEK (6-2) won against 11th ranked Aris (2-6) in Thessaloniki 81-77. It looked good early as Aris took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then AEK had a 22-15 second period charge getting the lead and Aris was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-81. They made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American Vincent Hunter (203-94, college: UTEP) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import point guard Malcolm Griffin (193-91, college: Fresno Pacific, agency: Higher Vision Sports) chipped in 14 points. Five AEK players scored in double figures. International point guard Eleftherios Bochoridis (193-94) produced 24 points and American guard Lucky Jones (198-93, college: Robert Morris) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. AEK have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 6-2 record. Aris lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with six games lost. AEK's next round opponent will be Lavrio (#8) at home. Aris will play against Promitheas in Patras and hope to win that game.
