There was no surprise in Alcantarilla where 13th ranked UCAM Jairis (2-8) was defeated by eleventh ranked Granada (4-6) 67-55 on Saturday. American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. Swingman Maria Cerqueira (174-74) chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds. Granada's coach Quique Gutierrez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Ana Faussurier (190-94, college: Arkansas) produced 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Danish forward Line Piechnik (171-90) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Granada moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Alcobendas. Newly promoted UCAM Jairis keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Granada will face league's leader Campus Promete in Logrono in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. UCAM Jairis will play on the road against De La Torre (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
