Regular Season Round 11: East Ball - Meshcheryakov 59-57

Important game to mention about took place in Riga. Fifteenth ranked Latvian East Ball (2-6) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 12th ranked Belarusian Meshcheryakov (3-6) 59-57 on Saturday evening. Meshcheryakov was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 21-18 charge of East Ball, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Meshcheryakov to just 4 points in third and fourth quarters. East Ball forced 27 Meshcheryakov turnovers. Strangely Meshcheryakov outrebounded East Ball 44-21 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a great evening for Aleksis Gaidamovics (-3) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 assists and 8 steals. Nikita Larionovs helped adding 12 points. Power forward Kanstantin Pasko (198-3) responded with 30 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Radzivon Poklonski (196-3) scored 2 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. East Ball moved-up to thirteenth place. Meshcheryakov at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Blackeberg. East Ball will play against higher ranked Ogre (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Meshcheryakov will play against Blackeberg (#11) in Stockholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
