Very expected game when 8th ranked Handlova (3-11) was defeated on the road by third ranked Iskra Svit (9-5) 85-81 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American point guard Andrew Guillory (190-92, college: SE Louisiana) fired 21 points and 5 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). International center Michal Cekovsky (211-94, college: Maryland, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Jakub Petras (211-94, college: Stony Brook) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Iskra Svit and four Handlova players scored in double figures. Iskra Svit have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Inter Bratislava, which they share with Zilina. Handlova lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. Iskra Svit will meet Prievidza (#5) on the road in the next round. Handlova will play against Lucenec and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
