Regular Season Round 9: Bnei Hertzeliya - Galil Gilboa 105-78

The game between second ranked Galil Gilboa (6-3) and tenth ranked Bnei Hasharon (3-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Galil Gilboa was crushed by Bnei Hasharon in Hod Hasharon 78-105. Bnei Hasharon dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Galil Gilboa's 40. Bnei Hasharon forced 19 Galil Gilboa turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Bnei Hasharon especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Galil Gilboa's players. It was a good game for international Karam Mashour (198-91, college: Morehead St.) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 8 rebounds. American-Georgian guard Michael Dixon (186-90, college: Memphis, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 18 points and 9 assists for the winners. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. American forward Greg Whittington (203-93, college: Rutgers) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import guard Bryant Crawford (190-97, college: Wake Forest) added 22 points and 5 assists in the effort for Galil Gilboa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod. Galil Gilboa at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Bnei Hasharon is looking forward to face Maccabi Rishon (#11) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round. Galil Gilboa will play at home against Hapoel Eilat (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
