Regular Season Round 10: Gran Canaria - Estudiantes 69-76

The biggest surprise of round 10 in LF2 was guest ASEFA Estudiantes' (6-4) road victory over Gran Canaria (#7) 76-69 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gran Canaria. Center Aitana Cuevas (189-86) fired 13 points for the winners. Guard Andrea Alcantara (171-99) chipped in 11 points. Five ASEFA Estudiantes players scored in double figures. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) produced 27 points and 5 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Cassie Breen (178-95, college: Cent.Michigan) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. ASEFA Estudiantes moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Real Canoe and Picken Claret. Gran Canaria at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes is looking forward to face higher ranked Almeria (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gran Canaria will play against the league's second-placed Adelantados (#2) in San Cristobal and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
