Date: December 9, 2018
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Kagoshima (7-13) and Aisin AW (4-4), which took place in Renova. Higher ranked Kagoshima was outleveled at home by ninth ranked Aisin AW 75-54 on Sunday. Aisin AW outrebounded Kagoshima 51-26 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Aisin AW made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 27 rebounds and 5 blocks. Niyokwizera Yves accounted for 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Five Aisin AW players scored in double figures. American center Antone Warren (208-93, college: Antelope Valley CC) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Atomu Yamada (179-98) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Kagoshima in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aisin AW have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 4-4 record. Kagoshima lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. Aisin AW will meet at home higher ranked Saitama Broncos (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kagoshima will play against Tokyo Cinq R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
