Regular Season Round 21: Shimane SM - Sendai 89ers 74-72

A very close game took place in Shimane between Shimane Magic and Sendai 89ers. Third ranked Shimane Magic (14-7) got a very close home victory over second-best Sendai 89ers (15-6). Shimane Magic managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 on Sunday evening. Shimane Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Hungarian Rosco Allen (208-93, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) added 19 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively. Sendai 89ers' coach Dai Oketani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane Magic have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 14-7 record having four points less than leader Kumamoto V. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with six games lost. They share it with Toyotsu FE and Cyberdyne IR. Shimane Magic will meet Bambitious Nara (#6) on the road in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Aomori Watts (#6) and hope to secure a win.
