Date: December 9, 2018
Bottom-ranked Dutch CTO (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 69-57 loss to seventh ranked Slovakian Piestanske C. (3-2) in Amsterdam. The game was mostly controlled by Piestanske C.. CTO was better in fourth quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Piestanske C. forced 21 CTO turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Martina Matejcikova (180-92, college: NJIT) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) contributed with 8 points and 4 assists for the winners. Evelien Lutje (183-0) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Ilse Kuijt (175-99) added 17 points in the effort for CTO. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Piestanske C.. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Young Angels. CTO lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with PINKK-Pecsi. Piestanske C. will play against TTT Riga (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CTO will have a break next round.
