Regular Season Round 9: Battipaglia - Sesto SG 76-70
Date: December 9, 2018
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Sesto SG (4-5) lost on the road to ninth ranked Battipaglia (2-7) 76-70. They made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. American forward Kristen Simon (188-95, college: USC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import guard Antiesha Brown (178-92, college: N.Mexico, agency: Two Points) chipped in 27 points. Four Battipaglia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) with 22 points and 6 rebounds and international power forward Giuditta Nicolodi (185-95, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Sesto SG's coach Cinzia Zanotti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Battipaglia maintains ninth place with 2-7 record, which they share with Torino and Vigarano. Sesto SG lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Lucca. Battipaglia will play against higher ranked Lucca (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sesto SG will play against the league's leader Venezia where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
