Regular Season Round 9: Breidablik - Tindastoll 82-117

Dominos League top team - Tindastoll (8-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Breidablik (1-8) in Kopavogur 117-82. The game was mostly controlled by Tindastoll. Breidablik managed to win fourth quarter 31-30. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll forced 22 Breidablik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Breidablik's players. The former international guard Brynjar Bjornsson (188-88, college: Francis Marion) stepped up and scored 48 points (!!!) for the winners and Nigerian-American forward PJ Alawoya (203-88, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Alawoya is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Croatian forward Jure Gunjina (203-92, college: Georgia SW) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Erlendur Stefansson (190-95, college: Black Hills St.) scored 17 points. Five Breidablik players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tindastoll have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record, which they share with Njardvik. Breidablik lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Tindastoll is looking forward to face Skallagrimur (#11) in Borganes in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Breidablik will play on the road against the league's second-placed Njardvik and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
