Regular Season Round 18: Shandong GS - Tianjin GL 113-105

No shocking result in a game in Jinan where eighth ranked Golden Stars (10-7) defeated bottom-ranked Gold Lions (2-15) 113-105. Golden Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Gold Lions' 40. They outrebounded Gold Lions 50-38 including 19 on the offensive glass. Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American guard Andrew Goudelock (190-88, college: Charleston) supported him with 32 points and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 37 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 7 assists by American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) did not help to save the game for Gold Lions. Guard DeShuai Shi (192-92) added 33 points (!!!). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Golden Stars maintains eighth position with 10-7 record. Gold Lions lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Golden Stars' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in Hangzhou and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gold Lions will play at home against Fly Dragons (#16) and hope to win that game.
