Regular Season Round 14: Umea - BC Lulea 78-100

No shocking result in a game when third ranked BC Lulea (11-4) crushed on the road 9th ranked Umea (3-12) 100-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by BC Lulea. Umea managed to win fourth quarter 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Lulea forced 19 Umea turnovers. American swingman Tavarius Shine (198-94, college: Oklahoma St.) notched 21 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import guard Corban Collins (190-94, college: Alabama) supported him with 13 points and 6 assists. Five BC Lulea players scored in double figures. BC Lulea's coach Peter Oqvist felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by center Andre Nilsson (209-90) did not help to save the game for Umea. American point guard Deandre Mathieu (180-92, college: Minnesota) added 15 points and 6 assists for the hosts. BC Lulea have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-4 record having just one point less than leader Sodertalje. Umea lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. BC Lulea will meet at home league's leader Sodertalje Kings in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Umea will play against Uppsala Basket (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
