Regular Season Round 11: Korikouvot - LoKoKo Bisons 59-96

No shocking result in a game when third ranked LoKoKo Bisons (8-2) crushed 10th ranked Korikouvot (2-8) in Kouvola 96-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by LoKoKo Bisons. Korikouvot was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. LoKoKo Bisons dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Korikouvot's 30. LoKoKo Bisons forced 25 Korikouvot turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Alex Foster (203-94, college: Albany) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Marcus White (198-95, college: Dickinson St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four LoKoKo Bisons players scored in double figures. Swingman Vili Nyman (198-98) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and power forward Juuso Maenpaa (198-93) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Korikouvot. LoKoKo Bisons maintains third place in Division with 8-2 record behind leader Tapiolan Honka. Loser Korikouvot dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. LoKoKo Bisons will face league's second-placed Kristika Turku in Turun in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Korikouvot will play at home against Oulun NMKY (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
