Regular Season Round 8: Breakers - Kings 70-71

Date: December 9, 2018
A very interesting game took place in Auckland. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 7th ranked New Zealand Breakers (4-8) to third ranked Kings (7-4) 71-70 on Sunday evening. The former international center Andrew Bogut (213-84, college: Utah) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Ukrainian-American point guard Jerome Randle (175-87, college: California) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. American-Guamanian forward Tai Wesley (201-86, college: Utah St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and New Zealand forward Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for New Zealand Breakers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kings maintains third position with 7-4 record having six points less than leader Wildcats. New Zealand Breakers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. Kings' next round opponent will be Illawarra Hawks (#5) in Gwynneville. New Zealand Breakers will play on the road against Cairns Taipans and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
