Regular Season Round 11: Catz - ViVe 91-117

We should mention about the upset which took place in Lappeenranta, where higher ranked Catz Lappeenranta (5-6) was outleveled at home by ninth ranked ViVe (4-7) 117-91 on Sunday. The game without a history. ViVe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. ViVe outrebounded Catz Lappeenranta 40-15 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Alisia Jenkins (186-94, college: S.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Tuulia Timo (173-97) chipped in 26 points. Four ViVe players scored in double figures. ViVe's coach Jarkko Havu felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Sydney Wallace (175-93, college: Georgia Tech) produced 54 points (!!!) and 5 steals and the other American import point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) added 9 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. ViVe maintains ninth place with 4-7 record. Catz Lappeenranta lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. ViVe will face higher ranked Helmi Basket (#8) in Helsinki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Catz Lappeenranta will play on the road against the league's leader HyPo and will have a slim chance for a victory.
