Regular Season Round 9: Trefl - GTK Gliwice 96-99

A very interesting game took place in Sopot. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 15th ranked Trefl (1-8) to eleventh ranked GTK (4-5) 99-96 on Monday evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Desmond Washington (188-92, college: St.Peter's) who scored 18 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Riley Lachance (188-96, college: Vanderbilt, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 17 points. GTK's coach Pawel Turkiewicz allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (203-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Serbian power forward Milan Milovanovic (205-91, agency: 011 Sports) added 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively. Five GTK and four Trefl players scored in double figures. GTK moved-up to tenth place, which they share with TBV Start. Trefl lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. GTK's next round opponent will be higher ranked Twarde Pierniki (#3) in Torun and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trefl will play on the road against Polpharma (#6) in Starogard Gdanski and hope to win that game.
